Panel Discussion on S2I2-HEP Conceptualization at the OSG All Hands Meeting

Today at the Open Science Grid (OSG) All Hands Meeting at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), a panel discussion took place on the conceptualization of a NSF Sustainable Software Innovation Institute (S2I2) focused on the challenges for High Energy Physics (HEP) from the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) upgrade planned at CERN for the 2020s. The NSF-sponsored S2I2-HEP project, together with the HEP Software Foundation (HSF) has been organising a community discussion on the software needs and possible computing and analysis models for the HL-LHC era. Panel members include Kaushik De (University of Texas at Arlington), Mark Neubauer (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Oliver Gutsche (Fermi National Acclerator Laboratory) and Peter Elmer (Princeton University).
